Nearly 100 Attend Region-Wide AHI Telemedicine Conference

Nearly 100 health care professionals from 11 counties attended AHI – Adirondack Health Institute’s 2nd Annual North Country Telemedicine Conference on November 3 in Lake Placid. The theme of this year’s conference, co-hosted by the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization (FDRHPO), was telemedicine integration. The event featured presentations and discussions on a variety of timely topics, including telemedicine’s impact on patients, telepsychiatry for vulnerable and underserved populations, improving access to complex care through videoconferencing, the challenges associated with primary care telemedicine, telemedicine law, and the future of telehealth in the region.

Conference keynote speaker, Dr. Eric Mitchell, President/CEO of TelMed Group (pictured), discussed telemedicine integration and its direct relation to better patient-centric outcomes. Dr. Mitchell explained that telemedicine is not a change in health care, but rather a new way to deliver care.

AHI and FDRHPO provide telemedicine resources and support in an 11-county region – Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, Saratoga, St. Lawrence, Warren, and Washington. For more information on AHI’s Telemedicine program, visit For more information on FDRHPO, visit
